A School Resource Officer is a certified law enforcement officer, under SC Code of Law 5-7-12, who is permanently assigned to a school or a set of schools. The School Resource Officer is specially trained to perform to perform three rolls: Law enforcer, law related counselor, and law related teacher. The SRO is not a security guard or school employee but a law enforcement officer who is there for the Parents, Students, Faculty and Staff.
